In the application log of the event viewer, the following message is present (figure2):
EventID : 57934
Source : Backup Exec
Type : error
Description :
Unable to load the necessary Microsoft Exchange dynamically linked library. Microsoft Exchange Servers cannot be backed up or restored until the library "edbbcli.dll" is properlly installed.
Error code: 126
Error message: The specified module could not be found
This occurs because edbbcli.dll is not present on the Backup Server or corrupted. Backup Exec communicates with the Exchange server via the Exchange Database Backup Client, or EDBBCLI.DLL (EDB500.DLL for Outlook 2000)
In order to solve this issue, the following steps must be followed:
1. Stop Backup Exec and its services.
2. If edbbcli.dll is present, rename it to edbbcli.old
3. Install edbbcli.dll on the Backup Server (%Systemroot%\System32\) for instance by installing the Exchange Administrator from the Exchange Server Setup CD on the Backup Server. Another option is to install an Exchange Client as Outlook.
4. Restart the server.
